The purpose of the Tutorial is to inform members of the Maricopa community on recent additions to Federal law about information given to current students, prospective students and members of the public in general about a College’s educational programs, its financial charges, and the employability of its graduates.

A Federal court has summarized the intent of these recent additions as protection for “student applicants who might be flim-flammed into signing up for worthless courses—and using federal monies for tuition which the students cannot then repay.” A College may face serious consequences if someone acting on its behalf violates these Federal laws. Accordingly, it is especially important for virtually every member of a College’s community to become familiar with them.

By the time you have completed this tutorial, you will have a better understanding of how consumer information may be conveyed to any person interested in programs a College offers.
