September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. This is a time for raising awareness on this often-stigmatized topic and to also spread hope and vital information to people affected by suicide. We have resources available for community members who need to seek help, and for friends and family members who are trying to provide comfort and understanding to someone close to them who is grappling with thoughts of suicide.
The Rio Salado College Library has created a guide with information, including confidential hotlines, resources, and articles on suicide prevention:
https://libguides.riosalado.edu/suicideprevention
The Jed Foundation also has very helpful tip sheets, videos, and blogs on the subject: https://jedfoundation.org/suicide-prevention-awareness-month-2021/.
If you are struggling with stress or feel you are facing a mental health crisis, please know that there are people who want to help. Reach out to our community partners or counseling team to help find the professional care and resources that can help you manage.
