Celebrate Pride Month At Rio Salado College
June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month! Pride Month is a time to celebrate the contributions and rich history of the LGBTQ+ community. Pride takes place in the month of June to commemorate The Stonewall Riots, a historic event of civil disobedience that took place in New York City in 1969 when a police raid on a gay club sparked a riot among its patrons and neighborhood residents. Tired of being harassed and criminalized for so long, the gay community defended themselves at Stonewall and launched a movement that put the country on the path toward gay rights.
Rio Salado College is proud of all our LGBTQ+ community members. Learn more about the remarkable culture and achievements of the gay community with our upcoming event and library resources.
