Educators Learn On The Job In Rio Salado’s Teacher in Residence Program

Arizona has a teacher shortage. Skilled educators are in-demand. If you have a passion for teaching, there’s no better time to make a difference in your community than now. If you’re interested in furthering your education as a working teacher, consider exploring Rio Salado College’s Post Baccalaureate Teacher in Residence (TIR) Program.

Prospective students can learn more about this program during one of this summer’s virtual orientation sessions. All sessions will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. The link to join the meeting will be provided upon registration. Upcoming dates are:

  • June 23
  • July 7 & 19
  • August 2, 9 & 17

The Teacher in Residence program is available to adults who already hold a bachelor’s degree and are recommended by a school district. It offers aspiring educators a chance to learn on the job, giving them the opportunity to receive employment in a classroom while simultaneously earning credits to complete their education coursework. The program is designed to meet the coursework requirements for a certified educator in the State of Arizona.

While the average age of adults who enroll in TIR is 37, the program is open to students right out of college and working adults who want to recareer into education later in their life. The TIR program provides mentoring and coaching for student educators to develop their lesson planning, classroom management, and instructional strategy skills.
