School Success Tips From Rio Salado College Student Sabrina Nicholson
Sabrina Nicholson enrolled into Rio Salado College’s Educator Prep program shortly after leaving the Air Force so her next career would continue to be about serving her community.
Now one year into her studies, Nicholson offers a few lessons she’s learned about online education to her fellow Rio Waves.
“Even though all my classes are online, I feel a sense of connection with the school and feel valued as a student,” she said. “I honestly can’t say I have a favorite class. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each course.”
To stay on target toward education goals, Nicholson uses these tips:
Read your professor’s notes: Go over all the notes for each lesson.
Read and reread their feedback on assignments. “All my professors provide such detailed feedback after each assignment. They add details from their experience in the career field and even some helpful additional resources.”
Go “old school:” “I’m an old-school student, so I print out everything and have a binder for each course. I can’t bring myself to get rid of my binders because there is so much valuable information in those notes!”
Take care of yourself: Remember to plan out breaks for yourself when you're planning your studying, work, and life schedule. It might seem silly but even if it's just five minutes, it can make a big difference. Those Wellness Wednesday articles on the website help too!
