Rio Salado's PTK Chapter: A Discussion on Human Trafficking

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, a time of education and awareness about this critical issue. Human trafficking is both a domestic and global problem. Since the passage of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, the United States government has been committed to confronting these human rights violations worldwide. In 2010, President Obama declared January "National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month." Since then, each year we honor the purpose of the month by doing what we can to raise awareness like this month’s virtual event on January 18.

Rio Salado’s PTK and NSLS students, along with Breanna & Brandon from Red Light Rebellion, will hold a virtual discussion about human trafficking and how to spot the signs of trafficking. If you have questions regarding this event, please contact Dr. Lily Davidov at lily.davidov@riosalado.edu. You can find more information about Human Trafficking by visiting the North Carolina DOA’s resource library.

Please register in advance for this event by clicking here. Thank you! We look forward to seeing you on Zoom at 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 18th!
