Devi Bala has over 20 years of experience in higher education finance at both two-year and four-year institutions.
Bala most recently served as vice president for business and finance and chief financial officer at Texas Southern University. She presided over all finance and budgetary functions within the university including treasury, budget, administration and finance, the controller’s office, facilities and maintenance, building and grounds, information technology, public safety and human resources.
Prior to that, Bala served as associate vice chancellor for finance and accounting and primary investment officer at Houston Community College system, where she was responsible for financial operations, tax compliance, records, and reporting.
Bala also spent seven years at the University of Houston where she served as assistant vice president of business services.
Bala began her higher education career at the Maricopa County Community College District where she served in progressive roles including associate dean of business services at Rio Salado College.
Bala is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Texas. She holds a master’s degree in accounting from Utkal University in India, and a post-baccalaureate in accounting from Arizona State University. She is a Certified Government Financial Manager and member of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India.
