GED® Test Prep Classes Overview
Rio Salado College offers GED® test preparation classes to help you earn your high school equivalency (HSE) diploma. Classes are available to students ages 16 and older in a supportive environment designed for adults.
The GED® test is made up of four subjects:
- Mathematical Reasoning
- Reasoning Through Language Arts
- Science
- Social Studies
Students in Arizona must also pass the Arizona Civics Test to earn their high school equivalency diploma. Each of the GED® subject tests is available in English and Spanish and does not need to be taken at the same time. Rio Salado’s GED® preparation classes will help you learn the academic skills and test-taking strategies you need to succeed.
Earning your HSE diploma is the first step to continuing on to college. Rio Salado College will help you get there.
Modes of Instruction
Rio Salado offers in-person and virtual, live-online classes, with morning and evening options available. In-person classes are offered at (multiple) community-based locations across Maricopa County. Virtual classes are taught live-online, through our Virtual Learning Academy (VLA), where you can log in at a designated time and learn from a live teacher with other students at the same time. Additional online study tools are available for both in-person and virtual, live-online students. However you attend class, you will be learning from passionate, dedicated teachers who are eager to help you achieve future success.

In-Person / Face-to-Face
This is the traditional classroom format, where classes meet on campus in a face-to-face environment.
Virtual Learning Academy (VLA)
VLA is comprised of instructor-led, live-online classes. You'll have the chance to interact with your instructor and classmates in a virtual environment. Your sessions meet online on specific days and times every week, just like an in-person class.
