Rio Salado offers flexible online and hybrid classes to help you enhance your professional skills and earn a professional credential. A list of available options is below.
If you have not taken a Maricopa Community College class since 2015, you will need to submit your driver’s license to legally verify you. This can take up to two weeks. Once you are verified, you will receive notification in your Maricopa.edu email box. You can then call 480-517-8540 to enroll in the class.
If you would rather use your personal email, go into your Maricopa.edu email and have it forwarded to your personal email.

Spring 2025 Section #31646 - Taught by Cassandra Ekblad
Rio Salado College offers a hybrid General Instructor class for law enforcement professionals. This hybrid course is a blend of in-person and online classes. This class is designed to aid persons responsible for training in the workplace. Emphasis on motivating the adult learner, systematic training, planning, and evaluating performance.
Per Arizona Post Prerequisites for General Instructor (No Exceptions):
- Must be an Arizona certified peace officer
- Must have two years of certified peace officer experience
- Certified status begins on academy graduation date, not the hire date. If you have any eligibility questions, please contact AZPOST.
Requirements for successful completion of the course and recognition as an AZPOST General Instructor:
- Mandatory attendance in all classroom blocks of instruction
- Successful completion of four oral presentations
- Successfully pass the “open book” final exam with a score of 100%
- Successful completion receives 3 credit hours
Cost: $97 per credit hour (total of 3 credit hours) and $15 registration fee. Additional fees may be charged for non-residency.
Location: Rio Salado College, 2323 W. 4th St., Tempe, AZ
Dates: January 6, 2025-February 28, 2025. There are three lessons during the 8-week course that require in-person attendance. The remainder of the course is conducted online.

- Monday, February 10, 2025/ 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., Room 515 and North Room (2nd floor of Conference Center)

Rio Salado College offers the Investigator Training course in a hybrid format. A hybrid course is a blend of in-person and on-line classes. This training prepares officers for investigative positions at their agency. Emphasis on investigations, search and seizure, legal aspects of interview and interrogation, report writing, case management, and field problem scenarios.
After completing LET 225, officers may apply for 64 hours of continuous training through AZPOST. Officers will receive 6 credits hours and a Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Law Enforcement Investigation through Rio Salado College.
Cost: $97 per credit hour (total of 6 credit hours) and $15 registration fee. Additional fees may be charged for non-residency.
Location: Phoenix Police Department, 1st floor Conference Center, 620 W. Washington St., Phoenix
Dates: January 6, 2025 to April 17, 2025. There are three lessons during the 15-week course that require in-person attendance. The remainder of the course is conducted on-line.

Rio Salado College now offers an online Search Warrant Preparation course for law enforcement professionals. This class provides an overview of statutes, constitutional requirements, and case law covering searches, seizures, and detentions relative to the search warrant process. It also includes procedures and tactical considerations for obtaining and serving search warrants, and reviews documentation of probable cause related to property, persons, and drug-related crimes in a search warrant affidavit.
After completing LET 243, officers may apply for 64 hours of continuous training through AZPOST. Officers will receive 6 credit hours and a Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Search Warrant Preparation through Rio Salado College.
Prerequisites for Search Warrant: Must be a sworn and civilian law enforcement.
Cost: $97 per credit hour (total of 6 credit hours) and $15 registration fee. Additional fees may be charged for non-residency.
Dates: Classes are held online. Students complete coursework on their own schedule. Class is 12 weeks. Choose a class section and available start date.
