Certification Deficiencies
Prior to taking this path, students should determine the deficiencies needed either by requesting an Arizona Department of Education report or self-analysis of the certification requirements.
Step 1: Obtain a deficiency report from the Arizona Department of Education (optional)
Review the steps to submit your application materials to ADE. Once the file is reviewed you will have a list of specific deficiency requirements. If applicants choose not to follow this step, Rio Salado College will not guarantee the transfer of coursework.
Step 2: Get Admitted to Maricopa Community Colleges
Applicants must complete the Maricopa Community Colleges application. Under the section "primary reason for attending this college," choose:
- "Take a class, not pursuing a degree/certification"
- Then select "Enhance Job Skills"
Step 3: Apply to Enroll
Applicants seeking to complete coursework for deficiencies are considered Unclassified and must submit a Request to Enroll form in order to be granted permission to enroll.
Complete the Request to Enroll process:
About 24 hours following acceptance of your Maricopa Community Colleges application, students will be able to complete the Request to Enroll application.
