DEIB Affinity Groups
To foster a sense of community, affirmation, and contribution to our inclusive mission, Rio Salado has established several diversity affinity groups. Affinity groups are a great way to find your people on campus—those who share your culture, identity, or experiences. Affinity groups provide an array of campus events, workshops, and professional development sessions. All are welcome to join each group and are all part of the DEIB Council.
Benefits of Membership
- Make friends and build community: Joining an affinity group means meeting others who get where you’re coming from. It’s a place to make friends, share your stories, and be part of something bigger.
- Feel like you belong: These groups are all about making sure everyone feels included. When you join, you’re helping to create a campus where diversity is celebrated, and everyone’s voice is heard.
- Speak up and make a difference: Affinity groups give you a platform to talk about what matters to you. Whether it’s bringing attention to important issues or suggesting changes, you can have a real impact.
- Grow and learn: These groups often offer opportunities to learn new skills, find mentors, and even take on leadership roles. It’s a great way to grow both personally and professionally.
- Help shape campus culture: By being part of an affinity group, you’re contributing to a more inclusive and welcoming campus. Your involvement can lead to positive changes that benefit everyone.
